Eric Prydz is one of those guys who tends to get shoved into the corner by many new EDM fans, only associating him with tracks like “Call On Me”. However, Eric Prydz is one of the best out there, and his talent is largely unmatched. His rendition of “Midnight City” is filled with majestic musical gyrations and simulated euphoria, courtesy of the angelic chorus imitation that blends in as part of the beat. This is one of the best raw productions I’ve heard in awhile, and it reaffirms Eric Prydz’ status as one of the most solid producers the EDM scene has ever been graced with.

Amanda Wilson remains one of my favorite EDM vocalists, therefore I always make sure to check out new songs that she’s featured in. This track has elements of slow-building trance in order to highlight Amanda Wilson’s melodic prowess. But when it drops, we get a pounding bassline and a heavy electro synth that will encourage listeners to bob their heads at unsafe rates of speed. Currently working out of Paris, Frenchman Chris Kaeser is a seasoned veteran in the dance music game. He specializes in club mixes and basically anything designed to make you dance uncontrollably. So without further adieu, turn up the volume!

This is one of the best mashups I’ve heard in a long time. Mashups will often feature awkward transitions between the songs being intertwined, but this one flows as if it were one track. Porter Robinson’s “Unison” is one of my favorite tracks from 2011, and it is nicely blended with Above & Beyond’s trance anthem, “Sun & Moon”. Trance meets hard electro and has a love child in this tune, and I think he’s going to grow up to be extremely successful.

“Evil” is the operative word here. Datsik throws down the dirty, disgusting, heavy dubstep that they are so well known for. And Infected Mushroom makes sure to infuse the track with their twisted electronic style. The result is very dark, and is probably the closest thing to hard rock that the EDM genre will see. This is the type of song you play to scare kids away from coming to your door on Halloween. So now all you non-candy buyers can still turn kids away without having to turn all the lights off in your house. It’s a win-win!

Dada Life and they’re widely used sausage fattener plug-in got all up in this track. From the second you hit play, your foot will be tapping beneath your desk. Don’t be alarmed, it’s perfectly normal to contract restless leg syndrome as a result of listening to Dada Life. Let’s take a step back and talk about their infamous plug-in. The synth you hear throughout this song is the fledgling once created by Dada Life. Now full grown and gorgeous, the robust, hearty grind that you hear has become Dada Life’s signature. Rule of Dada #1: Always use the sausage fattener. Rule #2: Kick Out The Epic, Motherfucker!!

Avicii’s Levels has obviously been the topic of much conversation in the EDM world. It was truly one of the best that the genre has ever seen, and still people go nuts every time it drops. Well, Levels just passed the ultimate test. Any good song should sound equally as good when its key elements are played backwards, right? Who knows, but Levels is, and that’s another reason why you can’t write it off just yet. This interesting tune was brought to my attention by none other than EHusky’s resident, DJ Andy C. Thanks brotha, definitely a cool vibe.

With the onslaught of new music that my macbook just experienced, I’m not sure just what it is I’m in the mood for. So, how can I possibly be sure what you’re in the mood for. The beauty in this situation is that regardless of what you’re in the mood for, you’re getting whatever it is I decide to post. So, I decided to be a stand-up guy by offering two jams that give off pretty opposite vibes, hopefully appealing to just about everyone out there. You’re welcome.
Together (Rabbit Killer Remix) – Fatso- Rabbit Killer reminds me slightly of Porter Robinson, somehow managing to balance a heavy electro, almost dubsteppish wobble with unmistakable and refined melodic elements. High energy is characteristic of this track. This is not the kind of tune you fall asleep to… do not let the lullaby-esque chord progression fool you. | Download
Still Infatuated (Vocal Mix) – AxisONE ft. Allison Long – Tech-house meets trance in this duel of chilled out musical styles. Soft and majestic chords and strings create the mental image of a futuristic fairy tale, resulting in a tune that may inspire positive dreams if played before drifting into sleep. Give in to this mellow, atmospheric jam; get infatuated. | Download
This track is one of those that somehow slipped through the cracks, despite it being on my list of songs that needed to be posted. Now seems like an opportune time, as two major remixes just dropped. The original mix of Marco V’s track is an electro anthem with a bit of wobble, and a ton of interestingly interjected effects, dropping right into a stripped down, yet monstrous bass line that resembles the drop in Nicky Romero’s “Toulouse”.
Analogitcal (Original Mix) – Marco V
The two remixes featured here are both from heavy electro artists who have enjoyed increasing demand in the past few months. The first is Hard Rock Sofa’s Remix. Grinding bass lines, and a more energetic and steady procession throughout the valley of the track makes it a real gem. Next up, the Bassjackers add their influence to Marco V’s masterpiece. They change up the original melody a bit more than Hard Rock Sofa, leaving you with a juicy, heavy, electronic synth that will leave you breathless. EHusky’s pick for best of the bunch? Bassjackers. Period. See what you think; feedback is always encouraged and welcomed.

It’s only right that the man who never sleeps visits the city that never sleeps from time to time. Hitting 3 clubs in 3 days before Electric Zoo, there’s no doubt in my mind that this is video evidence that Tiesto stays true to NYC’s fast-paced, chaotic and dazzling aura.
Soulful and deep, DubVision has created a track that has an incredible amount of potential. It features the same kind of chopped up synth that was made so popular when Alesso dropped his remix of “Pressure”. I can see this as the type of track that would be featured in a recap video for a major festival. It speaks to many different types of listeners, and its almost generic, yet refined hook is soothing and evocative. “All By Myself” was released February 27th on Spinnin’ Records, and it seems to be the signification of bigger and even better things to come from DubVision.
