Now one of my all-time favorite radio shows/podcasts, Ingrosso’s Refune Radio delivers some of the best music the EDM genre has to offer. I like to think of it as the continuation of Swedish House Mafia’s BBC Radio 1 Takeover. What’s even better, Ingrosso invited his prodigy, Alesso, to be a part of episode 2, a treat for us all. Throughout the hour-long show, the two of them talk to each other, and Alesso tells the story of how he got involved with Ingrosso in the first place, which is really quite interesting. Anyway, on to the music… Every. Single. Track…. Is a jam. Within the mix lies not one weak track, but of course EHusky expects nothing less from one third of Swedish House Mafia. The show opens up with Axwell’s edit of NO_ID’s “How R U Feeling Right Now” and then continues with Seb’s top 3 tracks of right now, which are as follows:
- Ladi Dadi (Tommy Trash Remix) – Steve Aoki ft. Wynter Gordon
- There And Back – Wolfgang Gartner
- Atom (Original Mix) – Nari & Milani
Other notable tunes featured in this mix include Alesso’s “Years”, as well as two huge mashups, one by Alesso, and one by Axwell & Sebastian Ingrosso. In the interest of pleasant surprises, I encourage you to listen to the hour-long show to find out what they are. Amidst all of the talking, the music on the show is downright phenomenal, and Seb has again proved his ability to show the world what’s really good (not that he had to). I’d like to close this review by highlighting a rare track featured on Refune Radio II: Etienne De Crecy & Alex Gopher’s “Overnet”, which dates all the way back to 2004. Ingrosso describes it as a “style changer” that’s “funky, sexy and has a big peak”. The most interesting part about this track is that it is strikingly similar to many recent releases. A jam ahead of it’s time, and one that has still not gotten old… check it out:
