Records in the genre typically feature drum machines and heavy electronic sounding deprived of vocals in general, although if present, they are delivered in a deadpan manner, often through an electronic distortion such as vocoding.
A couple weeks ago Deadmau5 released his new, chilled-out single titled “The Veldt”. However Tommy Trash decided it was his duty to inflict a more punishing bassline and a larger contrast between the vocal bridge and the drop. We’re left with a track crafted by Deadmau5′ silky-smooth melodies, and Tommy Trash’s wobbly electro druthers. The end result is extremely entertaining, and has been utilized in countless live sets since it first surfaced. There’s no doubt about it, folks… Tommy Trash is on fire right now.

Steve Angello’s brother (AN21) and his Russian compadre Max Vangeli have been bringing the heat to just about every festival that existed within the past few months. Working diligently for months and months, this dynamic duo is almost ready for their upcoming album release: People of the Night. The EDC NY crowd was extremely impressed from the sound of it, and we’re ecstatic about what’s to come in the near future. “H8RS” is their first single from the album, as well as a collaboration with Swedish House Mafia juggernaut Steve Angello. Steve’s acid house influences are certainly present, and the bassline and powerful synths carry a ton of weight and fullness for the duration of the track. H8RS is yet another signal that many mainstream producers and steering away from that predictable candy shop, melodic, simple house and moving towards some devilish electro thunder. We approve, and you likely will as well. Turn that volume UP.

Give it up for the first release on Nicky Romero’s brand new label, Protocol Recordings. After listening to a recent interview with Nicky, it became apparent that he has far-reaching musical talent, and that he has the desire to expand his label and his own name into other genres. However, this acid-house, punk-rock electro tunage seems to be working for him at the time being. We’re always excited about new tracks from this crazy dutchman, but this jam has been on our minds since he previewed it at UMF 2012. If you haven’t heard it yet, brace yourself. This is a monster.
My first question is: Why are these guys not more famous? Primacy Funk, consisting of three people from Holland and Norway, has dubbed themselves the “Two Nation Army”. With silky smooth beats and lush piano melodies, it appears as though they might be the most favorable army in the world. After they sent me this track I couldn’t get enough. It starts off with a light and airy piano chord progression, and eventually breaks down into an action-packed electro anthem. Definitely check these dudes out, and be sure to share their music. Without further adieu…

R3hab is now one of my favorite DJs after two stunning live performances, and thus I am very likely to post any new material with his name on the bill. His remix of “Naughty Party” is short but sweet. Taking a page out of friend and co-worker Afrojack’s book, he infuses the track with a healthy dosage of dirty dutch and high-pitched synths. It still has a little bit of that signature chainsaw edge to it, and overall I’d call it a solid tune for R3hab. Not his best, but also not his worst. Check it.
Well as I slave away moving furniture out of my college apartment, I am doing my EHusky homework. Just downloaded a ton of songs from artists I’m not too familiar with, and I’m letting them play at high volume while I clean and whatnot. Every time I hear one that catches my ear I’ll be sharing it with you. The Bombs Away Mix of Fabian Gray’s “Take Me Away” is an outrageous electro-dub banger that is most definitely getting thrown into one of my upcoming sets. Angelic vocals are catapulted through hurdles of monstrous and chaotic electro soundwaves. Pure adrenaline, and absolute perfection. I would recommend playing this only at high volumes. Other than that, buckle your seat belts… this is a wild ride.

Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen have a propensity for composing music that resembles a hailstorm of crazed beats. Oh, and how dope is the last name McGrillen? Totally trumps ‘McLovin’ if you ask me. Anyway, the artists formerly known as Pendulum have made quite a name for themselves among dubheads and die-hard house fans alike. They have seemingly bridged genres and created a vibe that almost all EDM lovers can get down with. And it is with great happiness that I share their latest masterpiece, the “Rage Valley EP,” with EHusky Nation. Offering a smorgasbord of hefty bass and brain-drilling synths, this 4-track tidal wave is not for the faint of heart. From the reggae-inspired dubstep anthem “Bonfire”, to the Congorock-esque electro swagger projected in “Sleaze”, it’s safe to say that Rage Valley will be turning heads and splitting eardrums all around the world. Make sure you check out the tracks below while patiently awaiting the May 28th release:
Darth & Vader is a Brazilian music project that was created by Hugo Castellan and Diego Baker back in 2009. By combining the sounds of heavy electro, Brazilian house and some elements of dubstep, among other things, this duo has invoked a fresh and revitalizing spirit into those hungry for house in South America. They have grown rapidly, and now the American audience has been inundated with their unique style. The Darth & Vader remix of “Three Days” is a mixture of melodic house and beefy electro. Add in a sprinkling of dubstep, and you’re left with a very creative tune. Enjoy…
Many people hate on tracks with a long intro and build-up, but that makes this one so much more enjoyable. As the title denotes, this track is focused heavily on the late-night carnal desires experienced by so many of those who love this music. You wanna make people leave the show early? Play this sexy track, and people are bound to partner up. Groovy as can be, and darker than most, “Horny Words” is a definite crowd pleaser, and has a different vibe than so much of the recently-released progressive house out there.
Horny Words (Mike Newman Bootleg) – Mousse-T, Sebastian Leger & Chris Lake
I haven’t exactly been on my game when it comes to posting, but I’ve finally made some time in my hectic schedule of doing nothing so far this summer.. I came across this track today and I absolutely love everything about it. The ethereal vocals immediately catch the listener’s attention before a clean drop accompanied by sounds I’m really hoping to hear a lot more of in the upcoming months. There are some dope bass modulations scattered throughout the second breakdown that should satiate the hunger of all bass heads. Turn it up and get down.
