It is constructed by means of electronic instruments such as synthesizers, drum machines and sequencers, and generally emphasizes the unique sounds of those instruments, even when mimicking traditional acoustic instrumentation. It sometimes encompasses music not primarily meant for dancing, but derived from the dance-oriented styles.
I haven’t posted in a while, but I’m gonna try to be a little more active. This track by French disco/electro producer Zach Mayer has been stuck in my head the past couple days. His unique style changes the original, mellow track into a groovy dancefloor banger. The vocals are a great accompaniment to his instrumentals and it all works so well together. This progressive/electro track is awesome. It’s got a great melody and vocals so it’s hard to not like. Alex Klingle puts a little electro spin on the it, but not too much where it would be overwhelming. Free download on soundcloud so check it out.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted but I just haven’t come across any really great stuff until now. This track is going to be huge. Hardwell was recently voted into the top 10 dj’s via DJ Mag, and his productions show he is deserving. This progressive/electro track has a unique sound, and I’m really looking forward to its release.

Yesterday, Avicii released his most recent track, “Edom”. I had heard this song as a live rip many times so while the melody and chord progression weren’t completely new to me, hearing it in high quality made a huge difference. That track reminded me of another one of my favorite Avicii songs, that like “Edom”, was made a year or so ago but has not been released yet. Avicii and his manager Ash team up on this production, straying away from the typical Avicii sound. He takes a more acidy/electro path and succeeds big time. The vocal sample of The Temptations adds a big element to the song, especially in the intro. I love seeing Avicii stray away from his typical sound and getting experimental.

What can I say about this song? The first time I listened to it I kept guessing the genre, but every time I did that a new aspect was added, changing it completely. If I had to label it I’d call it punk rock-electro-house-dubstep with some trap elements. I’m not really big into dubstep but this song is so unique and it caught me so off guard that it works so well. Savant explores waters that not many artist have in a single track, and I think it was a success.

Denzal Park has come onto my radar as one of the best progressive producers out there. This duo has so much talent, and show it in this phenomenal remix. The original “Skinny Love” by Bon Iver was one of my favorite songs last year (s/o to bricksquad), so when I saw there was a remix of Birdy’s cover I was so pumped. Denzal Park adds their signature progressive, big room sound to this track, making it a melodic masterpiece. Keep your eyes on these guys, they will be huge.

The duo of Mason & Dragen have quickly become one of my favorite producers. They have an awesome, unique progressive style that just makes you feel good. This track is upbeat, and is accompanied by some quiet yet captivating vocals. This song is euphoric, melodic, and just straight catchy. They gave this song away for free on their facebook page so there are plenty of places you can download it for free online.
Another Chance (Maison & Dragen Miami 2012 Bootleg Remix)- Roger Sanchez
I’ve been pretty busy with school recently so I haven’t been posting as much, but I feel like this is an awesome song to break the dry spell. Sandro Silva adds an “epic” style drop to this progressive masterpiece. Sia’s vocals are incredible and the buildup is extremely melodic, which makes the drop even more hard hitting. Definitely a club banger and a must download.

Sparks (Vicetone Remix)- Fedde Le Grand & Nicky Romero feat. Matthew Koma
First up is their remix of “Sparks”. They put a more progressive, euphoric feel on the original song which I happen to like a lot. They still keep the awesome vocals from the original without too much manipulation so I think they did an awesome job with that. Personally I like it better than the original. The Longest Road (Vicetone 2012 Remix)- Morgan Page feat. Lissie
This track is much more chilled out than the previous. With some awesome female vocals and a chilled-out melodic beat, this is a great song for when you’re doing homework or just hanging out.
Although not overly popular yet, Vicetone is an up and coming duo with an awesome progressive style. This track samples how talented they are with a variety of piano, synths, and remarkable vocals. This song is up for free download on their facebook page, all they’re asking for in return is a like.
